Global warming reporting may have jumped the shark

Exhibit A
And still no cure for cancer. Other things that have jumped the shark: Sudoku, this rockin’ band from Buffalo and, of course, the phrase”jump the shark.”

Don’t subdue me with a Taser gun, bro.

First some nerdy word talk, then we’ll get on to the fun stuff.
Remember the goofball that caused a ruckus at a John Kerry appearance a couple months back and got zapped with a stun gun for his trouble? (If not, you can click here.) Sure, he wasted two minutes of my life and those of […]

‘Tis the season

If you’re over 30, Halloween means it’s time to head out the Target or Wal-Mart and stock up on enough Boo Berry and Franken Berry cereal to carry you through for 12 months. Count Chocula is still hanging tough year round, but his spooky, crunchy friends have been relegated to October only by General Mills. […]

Baseball America

I like maps because I’m a nerd. I like baseball because it has lots and lots of stats and you can use your math skills. Pretty much the same reason I like maps I guess. So I really, really like this graphic for Nike Baseball. It’s almost suitable for framing. Couple things though.

Train kept a rollin’

OK. I was just reading one of Atlanta’s city newspapers (Creative Loafing) at my desk and when I got to the end of the page, I grabbed my mouse to turn it. All these forms of information and entertainment are mushing together in my brain. It’s all right though. I kinda like it.

Conspiracy theory

Hmmm. Albert Speer released from prison in 1966. Navy barracks constructed in 1967. I don’t know anything, I’m just sayin’.

Our democracy at work

Received this interesting piece of communication in front of the post office yesterday. Not quite sure what to make of it, but I’m pretty sure we won’t be seeing a Senate resolution that ranks earth’s creatures any time soon. Here’s the gentleman who was trying to persuade me to see things his way.

It’s football weather

In fact, it’s not even gonna break 90 today in Atlanta, so I bring you this.
This year, after almost thirty years, the NFL stands for New Fabulous Logo. I know I’ll probably catch hell for this from the designers and art directors but seriously guys, why bother?

It. is. on.

That was then. This is now.Another Sox collapse of epic proportions, or the biggest baseball tease of the season? In 10 days (maybe sooner) we’ll know for sure. Oh, and uh, go Bills.

Walkers, Joggers, Runners, Bikers

Check out this site and this even better site that both use Google Maps to let you plan out running routes and determine distances without leaving the house. No trip odometers necessary. Just bookmark your routes after you create them so you can get back to them later.

On air conditioning

We’re heading into our second straight week of temperatures pushing 100 degrees in Atlanta. It’s kind of like when I used to live in Rochester, N.Y. In the dead of winter we just moved from heated building to heated car to heated building without lingering in between. Down here it’s the same thing, just a […]

Four games and holding

Yanks survive another rough outing by Mo and Wakefield was untouchable against the Rays. Still four games back in the East but tied for the Wild Card. Speaking of untouchable, the kid Joba Chamberlain had his cannon on display again. No runs, 3 baserunners, 8 K’s in his first 5 innings in pinstripes.
